As you walk down the hallway,
eyes cast down upon the screen of your very existence,
beware of careless, hulking bullies
and do not forget that you hold the right
to throw your dirty, sideways glare when they
bump your shoulder.
This is the conception of that instant in which your life
flashes before your eyes.
You see first, you desperate clutch weaken,
next, that fateful slip of the fingers.
The plummet.
You are broken.
Your hopes are shattered
and your dreams, cracked.
This dark, empty abyss in your stomach,
this feeling as shards of glass are raked across your heart
is a pain that you would not wish upon your worst enemy.
So when that careless hallway fiend has the nerve,
the audacity to put your life at risk like that,
your dirty glare is the least that they deserve.
