Still Life of Dea
From “Still life of Eggs” By Medbh McGuckian
You are almost cut off, a large road between boulders,
In the faith-crushing length of an infinite road.
The gleam of your eyes reveals the difficulty
Of your life, the confusion of the stretch.
And if the sky could open its blinds,
Like a window to light across your mind
(Showing you the way) the road might mark
A stone or a crack, the stretching path of confusion.
Like the center of a universe you have been
So lost; like words written on a paper, erased
Into a void of nothing, you think
the forever turning moments under
Your nose and mind into marked eternity,
Thought, thinking - a dim light on the a shadowed path.
