Nontraditional Flowers
She was so lovely.
She made flowers grow
inside my ribcage. And
her love pulsated through
every fiber of my being.
She was inside me,
the flowers blossoming;
she seemed to
work magic like that.
She could pull out
all the weeds
on your soul
and replace them with
daisies and wildflowers.
But, as soon as she
died the daisies burned
and all the flowers wilted.
The weeds didn’t grow back
but my insides remained charred
and scarred
and empty.
