Janie
She was never asked out
Prom wasn't a choice
She stayed to herself
With a very small voice
She couldn't express herself
Never got the chance to sing at all
Wasn't able to text
Never answered a call
She couldn't brush her hair
Or put makeup on her face
She couldn't get dressed
And never ran past first base
She couldn't clasp her hands
And say a simple prayer
Elevators and ramps were always needed
She lived in a wheelchair
She never said the words, "I do"
Or walked the isle with her dad
But that's not always tragic
Because the strongest girl I knew used everything she had
But death always comes, though it came too soon
She was a sister, friend, cousin, and niece
And in our hearts
Janie will never cease.
