To desire,
To inspire,
To aspire,
To acquire,
This is the American dream,
To care,
To repair,
To dare,
To share,
To see things deeper than they seem.
Here's to shattered hearts and coffee shops,
And more wrongs than rights,
To living, not existing,
And endless sleepless nights.
Here's to bequeathing broken, flawed legacies,
The idea of life after death,
Where consciousness and dreams are fused as a single entity,
We pursue these dreams with every breath.

The author's comments:
This poem is an ode to the daydreamers. It's dedicated to the outcasts, the insomniacs, and the spontaneous. I was inspired by the reckless youth, from their struggles and fears all the way to their most memorable moments. The "insomniacs" in this poem refer to all the people who dare to dream while they're awake because they are the bravest of us all. They're the ones who live their dreams.
