Biblical scenes encase the carefully hand-painted walls.
Organs sprawl and zigzag like skyscrapers.
Massive windows coat the outside structure.

Darkness looms in candle-less corners full of Bibles.
Reflections of the holy fountain’s jewels dance in milky pigments.
Multiple, tiny rainbows dot the linear rows of rich red velvet pews.

Booms of heavy organ keys permeate our eardrums.
Flowing in a miniature white waterfall, the water trickles down Argentine granite.
Hymns and blessings radiate from myriad people who are praying.

How tall can an organ be?
Is this environment certain to mend the lives of those who pray?
Who created stained glass?

My body is calmed by the relaxed voices of those surrounding.
Shock inflates me at the sight of many of the Bible scenes, of war, fighting, and famine.
I feel juxtaposed into the large building, as I am so minute.

Eat.
Love.
Pray.

My piece was inspired by the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. I went to visit it in Savannah, Ga, and it definatley deserved having a poem written about it!
