Pitter patter
Shutters shatter
Thunder blunders, boom!
Stomachs squeamish
Lights extinguish
Prepare for impending doom!

Slither slather
That’s the weather
Mud on leather boots
Tendrils twisting
Windows misting
Rain grows wandering shoots

Cracking, cackling
Night goes black
A blister in the sky
Metal pole in an open field, you’ll fry!

Fluster faster
What’s the matter?
It’ll be over soon
Whimper, simper
Makes you think
A Southern storm in June!

Pitter patter
What’s the matter?
A robin fetches a worm
Empathy, sympathy
Foggy, misty
At the end of the thunderstorm!

As a grandmother, I burst with pride at Maya's work.  As a veteran high school AP English teacher, I"m thoroughly impressed with Maya's use of imagery, rhyme, rhythm, onomatopoeia, assonance, alliteration, and diction!!
