Nightmares
Nightmares hit like thunder,
Waking me from slumber.
I wipe the sweat
Though I forget
Going back to sleep I’ll regret.
The visions return as I sleep
Exposing me where I am weak
My mind always theirs to keep
Taunted by these Demons inside
In me is where they reside
I’m shown there’s nowhere to hide
Through the day agony,
and fear
Of what time draws near
The end of the day when I rest my head
These monsters wake up instead
Trapping me in my own bed.
