Most Belligerent Boy

He is at best not mine

at worst most belligerent

searching for a hint of an explanation

why?

Who?

But this is dumbfoundingly difficult

and strikingly different

significance fading like the end of a warm high school slow dance song

He is leading dominant

unfalteringly confident

unconconscious grin

clutching with ugly feathered fingers

as sections of a wooden fan

my sweaty watermark of a white pink hand

I am waning out with the steps

the laborious faithful obedience

I am this sugar scrub song

sweetly, unfalteringly I smell the burning of it too

I am melting at last

and I

take

a step

too

and you believe that I am belligerent

that I am such as you

a tempestuous creature

At worst I belong to you

most belligerent boy soothed with the past forgotten

and at my best, at my very best
I am belligerent too
