John tries to silence the restless voices in his head,
As he dims the lights and resides to his bed.

Chang awakens to a new day.
His alarm reads six, and the buzzer starts to play.

John tosses and turns, he tries to count sheep,
Still in his work clothes, he’s desperate for sleep.

Chang hastily irons his clothes and slips into his suit.
His boss says if he doesn’t look the part, he’ll get the boot.

John is asleep, but it’s already one.
He was worried about the bills, and providing for his son.

Chang speeds to work, but can barely keep his eyes open.
Late for the third time this week, for that new position, he won’t be chosen

Two men, drowning in the pool of stress we call life.
And for the better part of their existence, this stress is their strife.
