The Little Birdie
A newborn bird ready to fly,
willing to give its all just to try.
practicing with a leap and a jump,
one day it will finally triumph.
now you've grown up and a lot of things have changed,
there are so many things out of your range.
you try and try to be what people want,
but they don't care and all they do is taunt.
in summer people listen for your rhythmic twitter,
like if they don't hear they'll shrivel up and wither.
oh so beautiful and unique,
perfect so to speak.
for but in winter you have to leave,
and the people don't even grieve.
the journey starts out rough,
but don't you worry birdie you have to be tough.
when you come back it's not what they expected,
their thoughts are now redirected.
you're more than just a little bird,
you're an eagle who's going to be heard.
