Ode to Summer
Oh summer—
Your 90 days of heat,
Just aren’t enough for me.
Two months off school
Fly by too quickly.
Here’s to your ability to
Let the windows roll down
The music cranked up loud
And my friends singing obnoxiously.
Here’s to your warmth that
Heats up the lake
Tans my white girl skin
And lightens my dull winter hair.
Here’s to my admiration for you for
Abolishing school for two months
Blessing me with time for family
Permission to be lazy.
Thank you summer
