The Last Leaf
And there she stood like a tree,
A tree whose leaves were getting pulled off as she suffered from all those memories and lies.
Lies she fell for and eyes that didn't see.
Eyes she meant to open not until the last leaf.
The last leaf that would fall off that branch into the air and fly away.
Far enough to begin again.
Under new roots that cared and showed her love.
Those roots that knew who she was and needed no proof of who she would become.
And off it flew off that tree.
So she realized this is now about me.
