Only the Beginning
The pounding in my chest,
Beat faster than ever,
Too nervous to even look,
The results were up and I could not think straight,
Finally I looked at the names,
I actually made it,
I made the team,
I never thought this moment would happen,
My dream came true,
The summer practices came,
Practiced, danced, bonded,
Friendships began to grow,
A family started to form,
This was my team,
Football season came along,
Performing at pre-show,
Doing sidelines,
The season ended,
The smell of competition arrived,
Practiced, practiced, practiced,
And practiced quite a bit more,
The dance was perfected,
Competition had arrived,
Finally the moment we were waiting for,
Nationals,
The most stressful weekend all year,
We made it to finals,
The intensity was building up,
We danced our hearts out,
The award ceremony came,
We got top ten in the nation!
I was so proud,
But the year was coming to an end,
It started to get emotional,
The seniors are ending their last year,
I have two more years to go,
This year was the best,
But I knew that for me,
It was only the beginning.
