I am from those early Friday mornings when “World of Disney” was on
I would run to my parents room and ask for the channel
Then chant it over and over in my head as I headed for the living room
I am from looking out my window for what seemed like hours watching the flowers bloom
I am from never wanting to be alone, I needed someone with me at all times.
I would sit in my bed waiting for my Dad to tuck me in.
Wanted him to put on “A Midsummer Nights Dream” with my dolls.
Hanging onto his arm saying “Don’t go! Don’t go!”

I am from walking on the warm sand with my head held down looking for a sharks tooth
I lived for finding that black triangle dark as night, big or small
Or hitting back and forth the huge beach ball
I am from my eyes, stinging, bloodshot from the tough chlorine
I am from running out in the rain as it’s pouring

I am from reading Go Dogs Go, to The Diary of Anne Frank
Walking through those endless halls to my endless classes
Staring into the chemical filled glasses
I am from the “She started it”s and the “I told you so”s
Getting excited anytime before art and dance
People thinking that I try to show off whenever I get the chance
I am from trying not to care what other people say
Even if I may be thinking about it for the rest of the day

I am from falling into deep thought
Thinking about things no one but me could understand
Thinking what things would be like if everything went as planned
I am from living just for right now
and taking my last and final bow
