The Chicken.
Countless people still try to figure out why that chicken crossed the road
Progress has been made on this but lately progression has slowed
Maybe Mr. Chicken just wanted to get home after a long day
Or maybe he was running from some thug chickens that he didn’t pay
Maybe there was a criminal that he wanted to disarm
Why would he cross the dangerous road when it could cause him harm
Could he have been suicidal because his chicken girlfriend said they needed “to talk”
Or he might have just been feeling risky and wanted to jaywalk
He could’ve been out running, trying to get in shape
It’s a miracle he got across without a single scrape
The real question is why do we care about this riddle that, in our minds, has twirled
Shouldn’t we be focusing on something else in this big big world
This question is not about the chicken but about us instead, don’t you see, it’s really deep
The answer to this question would unlock the knowledge of what make us laugh and what makes us weep
Somehow in this complex universe the simple man thrives
The chicken question is completely about our human lives
I know the answer, the secret to mankind as a whole
Did I just figure out what composes the human soul
Prepare your mind for the philosophical brilliance I’m about to reveal
The answer to the age old chicken question is that nothing is real.
