I have a cat that looks like sand
He hates me as much as anyone can

He’s a hunter of the night
A stalker of infinity
His intellect spans miles
Into magnanimity

He’s horribly
Inexorable
Deplorable
But Adorable

He can’t help it
I know
But I’m overwhelmed and
The unknown

Is lurking in his eyes
Like it always is
And the sunrise
Shining through the mist

Behind the window
He can’t cross
But he tries so
Hard to jump off

The prison of a sill
That he sits on
Wanting to fulfill
His dreams gone

By the wayside
Needing to get out
Of the East Side

Out to the birds
The ones he sees everyday
Exciting the nerves
That help him play his games

The ones of instincts
That are so fitting

For ones of his type
His life
His fight
His flight

What makes him the majestic creature
That we know him as
His intentions much clearer
Than most cats

The lonely dreamer
By the window
The bygone seeker
In the meadows

Of his imagination
Places taken
With his persuasion
Forever waiting

For their king
The one who rules
While he’s begging
To move

Out to take his kingdom
He rightfully deserves
To be able to bring them
Out and unnerve

His enemies
To hold his power
To make free
All the others

Like him

This piece is about my cat, and what I believe he thinks about. I think him a more mysterious creature than he lets on, and more intelligent than most animals.
