Just Friends

I still remember the day I turned fourteen. I left my school, left my friends and I missed everything in my life. I lost my confidence, my happiness, and myself. One fine morning I entered my new school. Everybody looked at me in a strange manner. I was like an alien from another school. I saw two groups chatting and giggling among themselves. I was left alone and no one to talk with. The teacher entered the class. She asked me to stand and introduce myself. I introduced myself as Adam Smith from California. The whole day passed but I failed to talk and mingle to my classmates. We all left home the evening. The next day I woke up and I hated to go to school. My mom shouted at me saying that I was creeping like a snail to go to school and not willing to go to school. I got myself ready with a sack of depression and loneliness in my heart. I pedalled hard with sorrow to school when I met a girl cycling beside me. She gave me a small sweet smile. I didn’t recognize her, but she was somewhere related to me. She overtook me and went ahead. I parked my bicycle in my stand. I noticed my classmates talking something serious. I went to the desk, kept my bag aside, and comforted myself. I heard a voice from the back “Adam”. I turned to my back to see that it was Julie. She said “Why don’t you mingle with your classmates? I replied saying that it is a new place and it takes time for me to adapt. Our conversation went for a long time. In the meanwhile we became thick friends. Our friend ship was as pure as milk. The school ended soon. As soon as the bell rang we ran to the cycle stand to take our bicycles. We planned to go to the nearby Ice-cream parlour. When we reached the parlour, we sat on the chairs in a corner. We ordered two black forest with extra brownies. We saw our class boys sitting in the opposite corner of the parlour. Everybody’s eyes were pointing at us. After eating we left the parlour paying the bill. Then we reached home safe. The next day we reached school with a pleasant smile on my face. We again started discussing about petty things. Our classmates started teasing us about our friendship. We opposed supporting our true friendship days passed and we strongly stood as friends.
“So she was my best friend, till my end”
