TICK – TOCK

Tick – tock goes the clock

As the white walls turn black

Keys of white & black have colors exchanged

Up and down, perfect in harmony, no hands to guide as they play,

The mournful, soundless song knows no end

The only soul which knows the tune, forbidden to sing

The bursting tale in a writer’s heart

A book with blank pages waiting in vain to be filled

Secrets whispered on a damp pillow in the dead of night

Life’s most precious promises broken, bite back

Lips parted but words never uttered

Shards of a shattered heart, the points of arrows become

One lonely tree in a neglected garden

And a lone rope swaying in the breeze

Drops of blood on the marble floor

smear the spotless bed in the castle of old

Immortal, yet always hidden and alone

A soul ever dyeing but never dead

Tick – tock goes the clock

But it’s ominous sound lost on immortal ears
