The day before I go out,
My dad says, “You ready sis?”
I always reply, “I just hope I don’t miss!”
Go to bed early,
Rise just before dawn
On the way out we see a fawn.
We walk a mile,
but I just smile.
When we get adjusted and sit
My nose actually runs a bit.
When I see the deer step out
If he runs away, I know I won’t pout.
When I find the right spot in my scope,
BANG! I know there is no hope.
The deer tried to run,
but the feeling he feels is not fun.
I wait to make sure he is dead.
I’m sure of it because he does not move his head
When we climb down,
I know my dad won’t frown.
My heart is still racing,
but I just keep pacing.
Wait for my dad to get the truck,
because this is a big ole buck.
