The Warning of a Chid
The Warning of a Child
There once was a child
Who was easily riled
And tickled by the thought of a trick
Whether it be giving a rock
Or filling a sock
Or a sandpaper sucker to lick.
Well a thought the child had
To trick a comrade
And make him look like a fool
The child put on his cap
And went out for the trap
And laughed with a touch of dark cruel.
The comrade walked to the well where the trap was set
To fill his bucket with the liquid wet
But to his distaste and the child’s surprise,
He tripped into the hole in which was planted
And stumbled to the well in which he landed
And the comrade tumbled to his demise.
On the stand the child wept
And told the jury of the trap set.
The jury didn’t buy it,
And sent the child away
To be locked in a cage until he was hanged the next day.
The child now warns thou about playing cruel jokes
For the desire of laughs could be a fatal hoax.
So if you get bad thoughts, tell them to shoo,
Or a rope may be knotted for you, too.
