The Shrine of the Most
Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament
The long steep path leads to the polished Gothic styled arched doors entrance of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.
Wind hurls icy air into reddened faces as they hurriedly rush to get inside.
Low chatter bubbles as Ryan, the tour guide, continued about San Miguel’s story.
Church bells ring out melodious tunes which calls attention to the beginning mass.
Dim candle lights glow on the Lourdes Grotto replica as everyone looked with awe at the beautifully painted statue of an innocent 14-year old girl.
Were the signs and messages Mother Angelica received just coincidental?
Were they actually sent from above?
How many young women went to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament and decided to become nuns?
How could they leave everything of their past behind?
Sadness over, whelmed me upon learning that the woman who started all of this and helped it to grow is no longer able to walk around and enjoy the shrine’s beauty.
