From Within These Walls
Sometimes,
it can feel like
I'm in an empty room
and the only things that have always been there for me
are the walls
surrounding me
keeping my thoughts and secrets
contained and safe.
Isn't that what's better?
Isn't that all I need to have?
But still, an emptiness in this room.
Something I cannot fathom.
These walls have told me to open my eyes
as well as my heart,
for I can't let people in
without opening up to the cruelty outside
of these walls
that kept me contained.
But maybe, just maybe, it's time
to get up and try flying for once,
instead of falling.
