A lion woke up on a warm summer day
And thought to himself on what food he should prey
A zebra, a hippo, or maybe an ape?
Did he care for the looks? Did he care for the shape?

The lion did know that his belly was rumbling
And a lioness near he did hear was a mumbling
About this lion’s mind that was dumb and a bumbling
This lion was he! His emotions were crumbling

But would he give up? Oh no, not at all
‘Cause this lioness is who he wished to enthrall
To impress her, he wanted; to win her, he hoped
But along came a lion who caused him to mope

This lion was handsome and strong as could be
A hunter, a fighter, holy guacamole!
His dream lioness went right over to talk
And for our mopey lion? He went on a walk

Still yearning for food, he created a plan
To show his dream lioness that he could be her man
He’d go out and catch a great surplus of food
He’d share it with all! No need to be rude

And then she would see oh how great he could be
He’d then have it all! Yippee-yay-a-cayee!
He’d get his dream girl and be king of the pride
He’d rule all his people with smile so wide

So he went out a searching for food to bring back
And when he had found it he then would attack
But the skills to attack were those that he did lack
But he’d try all his best and hoped to stay on track

At last he had found it! The food he desired!
A prairie of zebras is what he admired
A surplus of food right in front of his eyes
But then what happened next would lead to his demise

The zebras had seen him and began to run fast
But towards him they ran and they did not run past
They trampled the lion with hooves all around
And when they were done he fell onto the ground
The lion was beaten and bruised all around
But he regained his strength and got up off the ground
But wait! What was this? He looked out on the trail
And noticed that out there was his furry tail!

Oh no, thought the lion, my plan’s all but a fail
There’s no way my dream girl will like me with no tail
Depressed and ashamed, he walked back to his home
A place he believed he could no longer roam

But the lion was in for a wonderful treat
His dream girl walked over and said, have a seat
She asked him all about the new scar on his rear
And asked him of his tail. Would it reappear?

Sadly he said no, it’s gone forever more
But his courage and braveness were what she adored
She said to the lion, you should stay with me
And maybe some time later we’ll have a baby?

The lion was thrilled! His dream girl at last!
And as for his tail?

Well, that’s in the past.
