The Assignment I Took To Heart

I loved her
I HATE HER
She gave me all that I ever needed
THEN SHE TOOK IT ALL AWAY
I grew up with her by my side
BUT NOW SHE’S NEVER THERE
But she is there
ONLY WHAT’S LEFT OF HER
She was more to me than my father
HER GOAL WAS TO EXCLUDE HIM
Everything she’s done has been for me
INCLUDING RUINING ME
She tried her best
SHE NEVER TRIED HARD ENOUGH
Nobody knows their child like a mother
NOBODY DESTROYS THEIR CHILD LIKE A MOTHER
She wanted me
SHE ALMOST ABORTED ME
She kept me
BUT NOW I WISH SHE WOULD HAVE ABORTED ME
She’s guided me
AND LEFT ME IN THE DUST
She listened
BUT NOW SHE DOESN’T KNOW MY FAVORITE COLOR
She worries
BUT ONLY ABOUT HER HABITS
AND WHERE THE NEXT PILL COMES FROM
AND WHERE THE NICOTINE FIX WILL COME FROM
AND HOW TO FIND MY WALLET’S HIDING SPOTS
HOW TO RIP A CHAIN FROM MY NECK
HOW TO RUIN ME
She’s my mother
... BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL SHE BE MY “MOMMY”

The author's comments:
This was a 10th grade English assignment. At the time, I was going through a lot and so I use this assignment as an opportunity to portray my emotions. The assignment was called "Heaven and Hell Are Other People". The lowercase and capital letters respectively represent Heaven and Hell.
