Ode to the Museum
A painting,
A statue,
And a story.
It is a sunny Friday
The leaves are leaving their home
Leaving the trees bare and sad
Wondering when their friends will visit again.
You are open
You arms open wide
Letting people
See the wonders you hold
So close to your heart.
Sadly
You welcome
People who do not
Have a sense
Of the grand knowledge you have.
They say hurtful things
I hate the museum
What is the point of this stupid past?
I say leave the past in the past
But you should not listen
To the ignorant words.
Because
I adore the
Stories
You have of the past.
You hold the world’s secrets
Without you
The world may lose some of the most important things
Humans have ever graced.
With your white
Gigantic walls
The scent of lemon Pledge
Protecting you from dirt and dust
That can put you and your stories
At harm.
You have numerous halls
That showcase
History
Like a prized jewel of Hope.
From you enormous T-Rex
That lost of all his flesh
To time
Now left to show off
His snow white bones.
To your paintings
That were once wet
Done by masterminds
That did not even know of it.
The woman with the smile
Now would not be considered
Beautiful
But her smile
Keeps her around.
The boy
Who got too close
To the sun
And fell to the dark blue sea
Leaving an older man
To grieve the loss.
Even
The man
The woman
The something
That will not
Cease with the screaming
Always puzzling people
Why?
You hold some much and more
Even your statues
Leave a tale
Especially
The one of the woman
A goddess of Greece
Who was beloved by the Athens
And praised her
For her wisdom.
With long limbs
Marble skin
And a spear that would make
A train look small.
Even the mummies
Of Egypt
Who
Were once worshipped
As mortal gods and goddess.
With their sun-like gold
Burial shrouds
And aging gray bandages.
I am so sad
To leave you my friend.
But I will be back
Like a solider of to fight a war
Who knows they will see their friend again
Only I am fighting a war with life
I know I will be back
One day.
