The long months of winter are cold and bare.
Filled with emptiness,
The light quickly fades to darkness.
The cold December days fading.

The trees stand with no leaves
Their branches slowly swaying in the,
Brisk, frigid air.
The wind howling like there’s no tomorrow

The moon stands alone in the sky, his face frowning.
The strand of smoke that sneaks out of the chimney like a ghost.
Single snowflakes make their way out of the sky,
Dancing gracefully, and landing on her eyelashes.

Her eyes watering from the air,
Making it look like she’s about to cry
Her nose red as a beet and becoming ice..
The airs so cold it burns.
Nowhere to go but home.

Her brown hair lays perfectly down her shivering spine,
Untouched like ice.
Her lips cracking with every breath.
As she walks slowly,
Single footprints mark the snow.
Only the sound of crunching snow,
Is heard.
