The gun dances across my skin.
The buzz louder with every line.
It feels like little pinches on my ribs.
The pain has gone,
For I am numb

He raises the gun,
Looking with a proud look at his work,
“All done.”
I look in the mirror
A smile of sorrow flashes over me

Six little paw prints placed lightly on my ribs.
Little black prints dance across my skin.
One for each dog

For a special one who will always be close to my heart
A little thin, delicate, black heart marks the spot.
Each is different in its own way.
Some paws bigger than others.

Each left its own mark on my heart.
Each was there when life was hard
A bond with each, irreplaceable.

The wonders a dog can do to your life.
They’ll always love you in everyway,
And greet you at the begging and end of everyday.

Wagging tails, short and long.
Long panting tongues.
Floppy ears, others stand up tall.
Big goofy paws that dance across my heart.

Dogs are beautiful in everyway.
I wanted a way to have them with me everyday.
Forever on my skin, set in stone.
The love between a little girl and her dog,
Means more than any kind of bond.
