My car starts up like a
bird leaping from its nest.
We sprint across the cracked
road trampling everything
that was in our way.
I arrive at those old double
doors that reflect back at you.
I walk into the natatorium,
It always feels like summer.
I jump into my cushioned swivel
chair and push off like a
rocket leaving it’s concrete platform.
The chair claws at the tiled floor,
rumbling at you as you glide
across the steamy and boring room.
I’m here and ready to guard lives.
The computer fires up
like a gun fires at a target.
I grab the blue tube and
it grabs me back with its sticky
rubber as I walk out to the deck.
