Cassandra's Lamment
Armor flashing
weapons clashing.
All for a face that launched a thousand ships
all for the word of Paris lips
All from Sparta where this doom came
all in Aphrodite’s name.
Now ten thousand Greeks or more
are her upon this Trojan shore.
And when this city is burned and sacked
and all its golden treasures packed
My voice will remain
the one you call insane.
So here I stand on temples high
and hopeless watch the years go by.
Knowing along
that taking Helen was only wrong.
