She Knows
When will they see, that I’m,
Hurting inside?
Can they tell there’s,
Something bigger that I’m trying to
Hide?
Do they constantly judge me,
And laugh at everything I do?
Try to understand how it is,
What if it were you?
There’s a 6-year-old girl,
Who’s left in the cold.
She believes she’s nothing,
Because that’s all she’s ever been told.
She doesn’t feel it when,
Her mom beats her anymore, she’s numb.
She gave up on hope,
A while ago, when she realized there’s no place to run.
Nobody knows she’s alive,
Nobody knows her at all.
Every time she feels steady, or hopeful,
Her “parents” make her fall.
When help comes,
There wasn’t any sign of that little, innocent 6-year-old.
Instead, there was a timid,
Girl of 8 who knew the untold.
Years went by and slowly she,
Began to heal.
She learned that everything,
In life is about how you deal.
She knows she’s misunderstood,
But she knows it’s okay.
Because the past made her,
Empathize and she cared anyway.
She knows people’s hurt,
She can see it in their eyes.
She knows things about people,
They don’t even realize.
She’s determined she can help,
Even if they can’t see.
That 6-year-old girl?
Yeah, that used to be me.
