The But Poem
I’d love to sketch a heart for you, but I truly have no skill.
And I’d love to sing a song for you, but my voice can make one ill!
So instead I’ll write this poem for you, ‘cause it’s all I can do well
I hope you read it ‘till the end, and by the end you’re feeling swell!
I’d say that you were smart, but “genius” is more precise
And I’d love to buy your heart from you, but you won’t name your price!
So I’ll just call you “Silence” because you leave me with few words
I’ll say, loving you is quite the double-edged sword.
I’d love to continue this poem to you, but sadly it must end
And I’d love to call you my very own, instead of just a “friend”
So please take this poem to heart, and hear all that I say
I care for you, love- Soar above, and have a righteous day!
