Let Me Go
I know I’m not the best in life,
But please give me the chance
To seek out hopes and dreams of mine
And make my own advance.
I may not be the best at what
My dreams tell me to do,
But that is what mistakes are for:
To show me what is true.
I don’t know where I’m going yet
Or what I want from life
But I can try things for myself
Without the need for strife.
I’ll always take a guiding voice
To help me see the light
I’ll make the choices in my life
With help when all is night.
I treasure all you’ve done for me,
And all the lessons too,
I wish you’d just let me be me,
And prove what I can do.
I’m done with all the rules I need
That tell me what is “right.”
I’ll make my own decisions now
And soar away with might.
