For all the places I could be,
There is only one that speaks to me.

A place where I can think out loud
And sweetly saves me from the crowd.
A place that shares my interest in the rare
And let’s me love and laugh and not care.
A place that knows all my ways
And keeps the outside world a haze.
A place that protects me from the big bad world
And let’s me be a little girl.

This place is hidden out of the blue.
I will not tell a thing to you.
For in this place holds stories too,
But none like the Woman in the shoe.

Once you go, you feel as if you won’t ever come back.
For when you’re there, you’re in it’s trap.
A trap of roses and fine things,
A pleasant sound of wind chime rings.

This place will keep you in it’s spell,
For everything outside couldn’t be as well
As this wonderful place where you have fell.

At some point, everyone does slip through
The beautiful trance it has for you.
And when you’re out you’re fine at first,
But then you need this place with thirst.
Once you’re out, you’re out for good
For this place has new people that temporarily could
Be under it’s spell
And stay until
It is their time to go
And remember it as “the years long ago.”

I’m slipping away from this cherished place
I say that I will never replace.
This place that puts a smile on my face.

This place gets distant as time goes on,
And only in the time before dawn,
Is this place remembered any more,
Rolling in my mind like a far off shore.

But for all the places I could be,
There is only one that speaks to me.
Childhood is this sacred place,
And right now I’m losing the chase
To save this ever-wonderful world
Of being a tiny little girl.
