Hearts For Sale
Hearts for sale
Hearts for sale
One bitter and lonely
Old heart for sale
One tart and comely
Old heart for sale
Won’t you come and buy one?
This hearts’ owner
Was sad and thin
He drank much too much Gin
And now his heart is a bargain
Here for sale.
This hearts’ owner,
Was lively and lovely
However, a lover left her lonely
And now her heart is left a moanin’
Here for sale.
This hearts’ owner
Was strong and grand,
Had many other hearts
At his command
But then one day he died unplanned,
Here for sale.
Step up step up and try one!
Try these hearts for sale
Step up step up and buy one!
Buy these hearts for sale!
You Sir, you say
You would like a heart
And that you are willing to pay,
Whatever price that it might cost
To buy a heart today!
Then show me, please show me
Dear customer, which heart you will choose.
Oh sir, surely not that one!
That heart belongs to me!
It is not for sale, I say
For not $1 nor $2 nor $3!!!
This hearts’ owner
I hold very dear.
She was strong and gracious
Beauteous and kind
And from her lovely smile
Heaven’s light doth shined.
But her love was a fickle thing
And tricked me she did
Almost left me and my heart
Here for Bid.
However, I was smarter
Than she had ever thought,
For one day twas’ I that tricked her
And her heart I had caught!
It lies here now before your eyes
A sparkling treasure of victory
For her heart is now my prize
And no one else’s it will be!
Because of her my heart still weeps
And she’s the reason why
I must keep this shop of hearts
In order to get by.
For these hearts are not fickle
These hearts, they are good
These hearts will treat you well,
As a heart should.
So if you are lonely
And as sad as I
Buy a heart from me, my child,
For its love cannot die.
