Taking Grandma's Place
You came into the family,
In kind of an odd situation.
Two kids, almost grown,
And a husband adept at aggravation.
You’re the calm to Papa’s crazy,
You make sure he takes his meds.
And when we’re feeling lazy,
You bring chocolate milk to our beds.
We’d be lost without you here,
You hold us all together.
You taught me to “Be Sweet!”,
And I won’t forget that, ever.
You took an odd situation,
And did the best you could.
You’re the coolest grandma in the nation,
If there was a contest to win, you would.
