Sweet Drink
You are the colors and the canvas.
The iced tea and the cup.
You are the superhero to a kid
And the smile to a face.
You are the apple on the teacher’s desk,
And the books in the book bag.
However you are not a snail,
A green turtle,
Or a donkey.
And you are certainly not any kind of monster.
There is just no way you are a monster.
It is possible that you are a rainbow in the sky,
Maybe even arrows,
But you are not even close
To being the fleas in a dog.
A quick glance in the mirror will show
That you are neither Michael Jackson
Nor Beethoven.
It might interest you to know
Speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
That I am the flowers to a Botanist.
I also happen to be a butterfly in its cocoon,
A key chain hanging on the wall,
And a ringing cellphone.
I am also the sugar in a drink
And the candles on a birthday cake.
But don’t worry, I’m not the colors and the canvas.
You are still the colors and the canvas.
You will always be the colors and the canvas,
Not to mention the iced tea and-somehow-the cup.
