The Girl Everybody Knows
There’s a girl that everyone knows
She’s always smiling
Always laughing
That’s the side she always shows
She’s happy, perfect
And her life is care-free
At least, that’s who she pretends to be
But what her friends, family, and teachers cannot tell
Is that she has a dark, dark secret
That she hides all too well
Because, although she’d never admit it
She lives in her own personal hell
The girl that’s always happy and smiling
I’m afraid
Is all just part of a constant charade
For what they cannot see
Is covered by her sleeves
All the thin white scars
That run up and down her arms
The suicide notes hidden under her bed
All just different plans for when she’s dead
This girl who cries herself to sleep at night
The one she tries to hide
Is constantly battling pain, depression, suicide
This girl that she keeps hidden
Behind the walls she has built up
Is slowly, ever so slowly coming up
This girl that she is trying
So hard not to show
This is the girl
That nobody knows
