The Chase

Heart thumping...
I run.
Run for my life.
The fear and irrational excitement bubbling up, I suppress the noise.
My feet beat against the ground,
Against the pounding of my heart.
Once predator, now prey, I run.
My life depends on it.
I flit back and forth, back and forth, but it is hopeless,
Utterly hopeless.
I have only myself to blame for my imminent demise.
I landed the first blow, and now my dues will be paid.
Closer, closer, closer,
The hunter draws near,
Then.....
POOF!
The brilliant white ball of perfection shatters into a million bits of shining glitter,
And the chase has flipped.
Predator is now prey,
Prey is now predator,
And the snowball fight goes on.
