Daddy Hits You Because He Loves You

Daddy hits you because he loves you.
He doesn't want you to do bad things.
So when you fail math,
he hits you because he loves you.
You wait until he walks out of the room and then walk to your own,
Open the drawer, take the blade out,
Lock the door, sit on the floor.
You close your eyes,
you drag it across your skin,
and pray for the courage to press down.
