Forget
I didn't understand as a kid
Thought you were the best when you seeked, I hid
Or when you took me to the mountains coated with snow
How was I supposed to know it was a show?
I grew up and with time I was ten
And I finally started realizing then,
It wasn't that you loved me,
You just wanted them to see
That you were the perfect dad,
But you ended up making me sad.
Soon, I dreaded your weekend,
For being ignored and yelled at started to trend.
Long ago on a February night
Was by far our biggest fight,
You lost your first born,
And some would think I'd be torn.
Now I see you lied and cheated,
But in the end you were beaten.
Some say I'll go back, so place your bets,
But dad, just because I forgave you doesn't mean I'll forget.
