There is absolutely no denying
that inside me there is a sense of dread,
maybe because I feel like I'm dying.

There is not acting, there is no lying,
that in my soul I feel like I am dead,
there is absolutely no denying.

The pain is so bad, I feel like crying,
resting my troubles away in my bed,
maybe because I feel like I'm dying.

Death is so near, there is no defying
the feelings that have come up in my head,
there is absolutely no denying.

The moisture on my lips is now drying,
until they turn into bright white from red,
maybe because I feel like I'm dying.

My demise is close, I lay here sighing,
I don't care what anybody has said,
there is absolutely no denying,
maybe because I feel like I'm dying.

The author's comments:
I read a story about a man who, for so long, felt like he was dead on the inside. And on the day he did die, he didn't feel any different than how he felt his whole life. I believe that this poem was inspired by that story.
