Mylove

When I first saw your face,
looked into those eyes.
I knew you would be special,
Always a surprise.

I knew you'd grow up strong,
Healthy and alive,
I knew that you'd be special
As long as you could strive.

I wish I had more time,
That I could see you grow,
But now the time has come
And there's something you should know.

The first thing's that I love you,
and that always will be true.
The second is I'm sorry,
I did only what I knew.

And lastly just remember,
That wherever you may be,
I'm always watching out
For Mylove who misses me.

The first thing you should know is that "Mylove" is not a typo, it is a little girl's name. This poem is a message from a dead mother to her young daughter. Last week, a colleague at my dad's work lost his wife to drugs. She was only 29, and had 3 children. What I found amazing is that they named their first daughter Mylove. It just goes to show how much that mother loved her daughter. So for this poem, I decided to step into the mother's shoes and give Mylove one last message from her mother.
