"We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone
whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into
mutual weirdness and call it love." -Dr. Seuss

When that silver moon falls into the night,
it echoes its waning cry.
Throughout the darkness, there shines the true light.

The full moon gleams with its beckoning might,
but will soon have to say goodbye.
When that silver moon falls into the night.

The gibbous refuses to go without a fight,
But ahead its darkening side lie.
Throughout the darkness, there shines the true light.

The quarter moon equals its dark and its light,
its confliction like kids over a half-eaten pie.
When that silver moon falls into the night.

The waning crescent is anything but bright,
where its light is seeming to die.
Throughout the darkness, there shines the true light.

The new moon hides in its absence of sight,
and the world seems to question “why?”
When that silver moon falls into the night,
Throughout the darkness, there shines the true light.

This is a poem I wrote for a Creative Writing course I am currently taking in high school. With this poem I attempted to metaphorically portray that even within a world consumed in darkness, there is some light shining through, somewhere.
