First day of freshmen year…
Smiling, seeing new faces at the start of a new school
Hopelessly wondering what these next four years will be like
Nervous, anxious, jittery, all of the above
Feeling somewhat alone having no one to talk to

Meeting new friends who you can truly be yourself around
Ones who understand you when you yourself feel like you’re making no sense
Laughs, sorrows, the list goes on
Inside jokes that bring you to tears
Many memories that will last a lifetime

And then…
Texting becomes your new best friend
You lose some friends that have betrayed you or
You just didn’t have enough in common with
Growing distant from others you thought would be there forever
Missing them, although you don’t know how to change it

Homework, homework, and even more homework
Shoulders are hurting with all the books in your bag
Grunting from frustration, angry
Procrastinating as much as you can
Exhausted each and every night trying to cram assignments in
Wondering if any of this information will take you far in life

Passing the mortifying license test
Getting your new taste of freedom
Having your very own car
Happy, excited, free
Driving whenever and wherever you please

Your first experiment with alcohol and drugs
Acting the way people want you to act
Feeling the peer pressure to do things you wouldn’t normally do
Struggling to keep up with the latest trends for you to fit in
Only thing going through your mind... "YOLO!"

Random hookups that you’ll later regret
Feeling humiliated, used, and played

Falling in love for the very first time
Feeling weightless for actually being wanted by a guy
Pointless fights that are over by the end of the day
Endless butterflies flying around in your stomach
Dreaming on cloud nine, never wanting to wake up

Reality starts to set in
You go through your first heartbreak
Never thought something like this would happen
Hoping for the best, expecting the worst
Feels like the end of the world
But all you can do is try to move on

The day that you have worked hardest for is finally here
………GRADUATION!
Successful, accomplished, achieved
Although saddened with all the goodbyes
Putting this high school experience in the past
Friends you have that you will never forget
Things will never be the same

Packing up your whole life and starting a new one in college
New city, new friends, new
e v e r y t h i n g
Learning that it’s now time to grow up and
Anticipate on the future and the rest of your life…
