Achieve (A Chief)
As a young boy, I had dreams of being something,
Nothing like a punk kid, too angry, too sad to function.
Rather respect myself and lead events and junctions,
I would even put on plays and skits as a munchkin.
I never knew who I’d grow up to be and love,
A sea of scrubs; I like to see myself above,
In the colder air, but my skin is thick beneath my gloves.
Reach and tug, but I’m forever stuck.
In this game of life, but I’m afraid I’ve already won.
In a school, a community, with fun and no fuss
I’m a grown man, even if I slip up and cuss.
Love not lust, I’m glad my intellect was enough.
As I sit and write, in fear of flight
Travel down a different path, hold the steering wheel tight.
Afraid of failure, I’m not the effortless type
Nevertheless, I hope my methods are right.
