From the Sand

Up, up,
The sky is clouded.
Down, down,
Gray blue and white.
Down, down,
Pebbles rest,
Smooth, small, and round.
Up, up,
The sky stays gray,
But down, down,
The pebbles stay.
Below my feet,
The pebbles stay,
Patterns of lines each different but the same,
All from grains of sand,
Each different but the same.
