Favorite Quote:
The future lies before you, like a field of fallen snow; be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.

It’s choices that we make,
that sometimes makes our hearts ache.

Choices that don’t bring us shame,
but bring honor to our very name.

Choices in the past,
that bring mourning last.

Choices that happen everyday,
that don’t just fade away.

Choices that are yet to come,
that follow the beating of the war’s drum.

Choices that have you leave your family,
when you leave your little daughter staring off the balcony.

Choices that keep you close to love,
Where they see something they are proud of.

The choices that can be paid,
by the point of the blade.

To give up everything you own,
to give what people can’t and don’t.

These sacrifices are made by your brothers,
and your darling sisters.

These sacrifices are done by your mother,
and by your loving father.

But no matter what,
just follow your gut.

You sacrifice your life,
your new path may be rife.

Just remember you get what you give,
so you and others get the chance to live.

This act of defending,
can be an ending.

An ending to suffering,
and a start to all recovery.

This defense is patriotism,
to fix the schism.

So whether it be fighting,
or to do all the deciding.

Patriotism is honor,
to wear the armor.

Patriotism is a choice,
to let people hear your voice.

Patriotism is support.

I won a writing contest for veterans day. I was curious as to what everybody thought.
