Poor Girl

December 13, 2012
By Anonymous

Poor girl grew up in shaky-boned houses,
No windows.
Poor girl isn't a stable wall,
Foundations of an empty eyed world.
Poor girl prays for sunlight,
Heard daddy traded it to be a star.
Poor girl strangles the necks of bottles,
There is no such thing as murder in this bar tonight.

Poor girl asks the question with scissor blades,
She seems to think wrists are hiding answers.
Poor girl thinks smiles are like buildings,
Laughing is the jump.
Poor girl is bare-skinned rib cage,
Can’t hold a slaughtered heartbeat.
Poor girl hungry,
Poor girl tired,
Poor girl rope,
Poor girl eulogy,
Parents couldn't afford the funeral.
