The heat, the sun, the burn.
There was nowhere that they could turn.
They remember the plane as it fell.
They forever would remember how everyone would yell,
as the plane sped toward the ground. How many days -
how many days, had they been out here? They walked in a haze.
The heat, it blazed from all around,
It had a strange effect on the ground -
making it look on fire. The people finally had to admit -
that this heat, this heat would never quit.
By now the thought of death to them seemed sweet.
The heat would never again allow them to meet,
new people or see all the loved ones they left behind,
for the heat surely is not kind.
No! Not the heat with its unforgiving gaze.
This never-ending desert seems like a maze.
Hard to ignore the burning dryness in the throat.
Chances of escaping this sweltering place are long forgot.
Those who remain glare at the sun’s blazing heat,
that left them looking like raw pieces of meat.
Alas, there was nowhere they could turn.
The heat, the sun, the sweltering burn.
